This Tender Land

By: William Kent Krueger

Now, most of you that know me, know that I am a huge reader. I love to read books, especially creepy, murder mystery books.

This Tender Land is out of my normal book genera, but man, is it an amazing book.

This Tender Land will pull on your heart strings as you see both great tragedy and great love in the four main characters in the book. The book is set in a Minnesota orphanage in 1932. The orphanage is where Native American children are sent to be raised. (mostly against their will, and against the will of their parents). Four lucky orphans escape this living hell they all call home and head for a big adventure down the Mississippi River, in search of a better life. Along the way, these kids meet people from all different walks of life. Some become lifelong friends, and some are no better than where they came from. This book is nothing but one big adventure. It will have you on the edge of your seat, and make you feel as if you are right there with them rowing down the Mississippi River.

I've read many books so far in 2020, but this one so far is the best I have read. It's a lengthy 400 page book, but I finished it in just two days.

Per usual, I discovered this book through my subscription to Book of the Month Club. This post is not sponsored, I just love BOTM club so much! I have had it for 3 years. Every month you get to choose one book (always hardcover) out of 5 options. They are all different genres. They then ship your box and it's in your hands within a few days! They have 3 month, 6 month, and 12 month subscriptions. I always do the yearly subscription, it's the best bang for your buck at $149 for the year.
